Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, who will portray the important role of Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, recently made an appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, where he said he’s ‘humbled’ to play such an crucial role, adding that it’s like a dream come true for him.
It sounds like you’re referencing a project related to the Ramayana, which is indeed a monumental epic with deep cultural significance. It’s great to hear that your friend Namit Malhotra is so dedicated to bringing this story to life, especially with a talented team and a director like Nitesh Tiwari. What aspect of the Ramayana are you most excited about, or what role are you playing in this project?
Kapoor further revealed that he has wrapped up shooting for Ramayana’s first part, and will begin shooting for part two soon. “It has two parts. I have finished the shooting of Part 1, and will shoot Part 2 soon. Just to be a part of that story, I am so humbled to essay Ram’s role. It’s a dream for me. It’s a film that has everything. It teaches what Indian culture is about – family dynamics and husband-wife dynamics,” he added.
Besides Kapoor, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana will also see Sai Pallavi as Sita. The film will also star Yash as Ravana. The actor is also co-producing the movie. “If the character is treated like a character… if this doesn’t happen today, then the film won’t happen. To make a film with that kind of budget, you need those kinds of actors to come together,” Yash told the Hollywood Reporter India recently.
Arun Govil Ji and Lara Dutta are also playing key roles in the film. Reportedly, the makers have also roped in Sunny Deol for the role of Hanuman. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now. Ramayana’s first part will hit theatres on Diwali 2026 whereas part two will be out on Diwali 2027.
